Discover. Develop. Empower. You may have noticed Holistan’s cryptic messages about a “Talent Management Solution coming soon…” on our social media platforms and on our newsletters. Finally – it’s time to tell you what we are on about! We recently celebrated our third birthday at Holistan. We proudly encompass an agile approach to business, which has seen Holistan evolve our offering, shifting into a far more strategic and supportive function for our clients. That means a new business model, along with new branding to celebrate this beautiful change in our business! Up till now, you’ve known Holistan to offer psychometric assessments for the purpose of selection. However, a recurring theme we’ve identified is the fact that organisations are spending thousands of Rands on assessments without capitalising on the full return these techniques may offer. In the early days, we recognised this. In a bid to capitalise on the full offering of our psychometrics, we created a personal development plan integrated into our summary reports for every single candidate who walked through our doors – that includes even the candidates who were never successful in getting their desired job. We incorporated this value add into the cost to client to assist candidates to play to their strengths, as well as address their weaknesses (plus it was a bonus that companies could assure their candidates that even if they may walk away without an offer – they would still walk away with something tremendously valuable). But still, the question we were asked time and time again was…how do we develop those gaps? Skills Development has become a critical need in the South African context. Organisations who exceed R 500 000.00 in the gross salary turnover of their employees are required, by law, to contribute to the Skills Development Levy (SDL). Further to this, Skills Development is one of five critical elements of your company’s BEE scorecard. If maintaining a strong BEE score is important to you, again, you need to be spending on building on your staff’s skills. There are many consultancies on the market which offer to conduct a skills audit on your business to identify skills gaps, which then forms the departure point for drawing up a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP). However, we asked ourselves how scientific are these plans? How valid are these skills audits? And to what extend are organisations seeing a return on their money…? As specialists in psychological science, we recognised the value we could add to business in using our expertise in identifying, with precision and accuracy, YOUR employee’s developmental gaps, AND utilising our wealth of knowledge in addressing the development of certain competencies. Alongside this, we are able to support business in managing their talent. After all, happy employees = happy client = higher profits. We are immensely proud and excited to introduce our ABC*r model for our clients. Assessments Assessments, are our Psychological Tests – which essentially encompassed the core of our business model historically. Here, we manage our client’s entire assessment function – from drawing up job profiles, designing batteries of assessments, right through to assessing your candidates and compiling integrative psychological reports – with feedback to both candidate and client. We don’t need to sell the value here; it’s been the centre of our business for so long and we’ve seen the positive impact finding the right hire first time round can have. Behaviour Behaviour can be improved upon by implementing an agile Skills Development strategy. This really gets our hearts pumping; we use the valuable data gained from our psych assessments – which in the past was an underutilised resource. But upon taking heed of the cues from our clients, we’re now using this data as a scientific springboard to create detailed, accurate Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) for your entire team, as well as Personal Development Plans for individuals. We don’t use rudimentary check lists to gain this information. Ask yourself logically how valid is your line manager’s perception of your skill deficiencies? Perhaps there is some value but it’s certainly not a fool-proof technique. These PDP’s speak directly to the identified gaps your employees currently have, and we use our sophisticated cloud based software to assign customised learning material for your talent. These on-line courses can be completed over time, in the comfort of the individual’s work or home space – as long as they have a secured connection to the internet. To support our digital approach, however, we are able to offer customised workshops for your team’s needs. After all, face to face engagements are still (and we think always will be) tremendously valuable. This is a real game changer in the skills development space. Our offering not only gives your organisation on-line courses integrated into psychometric data; we engage our clients, asking what the challenges are from a team perspective. Perhaps there’s heightened conflict in your department. Or perhaps the deflated energy is palatable and you’re struggling to motivate your talent. As part of this piece-of-the-pie, Holistan will provide a Subject Matter Expert to deliver compelling one-day workshops on-site, on a monthly basis. You may be pleased to hear that our training can be written off as your mandatory informal training (otherwise referred to as category F and G for the BEE scorecard). What’s more is that we have strategic alliances with SETA accredited training institutions so we’re able to offer the most competitive quotations owing to our alliances, specifically for more formal training to meet the requirements of the category A – E for your BEE scorecard. Contentment Contentment is the term we’ve coined for Employee Wellness. You know, the ‘fluff’ some people think is a nice-to-have and not a necessity. Taking a leaf out of the book of top organisations (think Google, Nestle, Pick ‘n Pay, or Discovery to name a few), these businesses recognise that looking after their most valuable resources – their human resources – simply makes business sense. At Holistan, we support our clients and their employee wellness programmes – whether this is organising team building events, weekly bite-size activities (how does Meditation Moments, Office Yoga or Massage in Minutes sound?) right through to quarterly health screenings for your team and organising your Christmas Year end function. Recruitment We don’t advertise ourselves as Recruiters, as typical recruitment is not our game. Our game is psychological science. We have worked with our clients to source talent by filtering them through a rigorous process. In other words, we match their competencies to your job profile in the sourcing phase. We include the cost of our psychometric assessments with the placement fee – so you really are getting so much value. We’ve created monthly packages which are extremely competitive. We don’t look to replace your HR person – they are there for a reason! We propose to come on board as your Human Capital Strategist – at a fraction of the cost of recruiting someone of such calibre. On top of that, we’re offering you a team instead of one human to fill that role to support you in hiring and retaining talent, maintaining a highly competitive edge, making YOUR clients happy, and enjoying repeat business.
But don’t take our word for it. As social scientists, we are driven by data and analytics. Our solutions offer feedback and reports characterised by metrics which matter. Whether that is the impact on your Net Promoter Score (NPS) or a drop in your staff turn-over – we’re all about proving ourselves on hard-core data. If you’re interested in what we can offer your business, book a complimentary session with us. We’ll come through, have a chat over a cup of coffee and map out exactly what your gaps are in your business, as well as how we intend on supporting you from a Human Capital perspective.
