You may have noticed we have been making some elusive announcements as of late about some major changes taking place at Holistan…and here it is!
Holistan – A Brief History
Holistan was conceptualised formally in January 2015, although we had started trading informally 18 months prior. We began trading at Regus, Bruma, Johannesburg before moving to our beautiful offices in Bedfordview, Johannesburg later on that year.
Holistan’s primary offering has been psychometric assessments for selection and development of candidates. We have had the honour of working with SME’s as well as Blue Chip Companies, both locally and abroad. We are proud of our portfolio of clients, including Discovery, Clockwork Media, Rustenburg Municipality, Ricoh South Africa, Demographica, Hospitality Property Fund, BARSA (Board of Airline Representatives in South Africa), FastJet, CTC (Colliery Training College), Dipula, Grant Thornton, Houghton Muslim Academy, Ontarget Interiors, Barloworld, and South African Tourism (to name a few).
Furthermore, we support major consultancies with their psychometric needs, including Omnicor and Zunshine.
However, given our niche set of skills, Holistan spotted the gap in supporting individual clients in developing their Personal brands. Thus, there has been a slow shift in focus from B2B to B2C, offering clients solutions around career guidance, rewriting CVs (for local and international purposes), optimising LinkedIn profiles, coaching and upskilling clients on soft skills, ensuring they not only make an impression during the interview process – but in their new careers.
On the other side of the spectrum, Holistan also recognized that Health Professionals in South Africa required guidance and support in starting and managing their own private practices. In 2016, we created workshops to meet this need, and Holistan’s founder, Marzenna Almendro, penned the book “Chasing the Dream: A Guide to Practice Management in the South African Context”. Our resources and growing community has proved to be pivotal in arming Psychology Professionals with all the support they need to practice in their respective communities.
At the start of the Corona Virus Pandemic, and subsequent lockdown, Holistan was impacted like every small business in the country. However, we used this pandemic as an opportunity to support our communities. Holistan did what we do best – we offered tons of free advice, published e-books, articles and free resources to help jobseekers and entrepreneurs during what has to be one of the toughest years in history.
Today, Holistan is a recognized brand in the South African market. We are often called upon by the media to offer our expertise on a plethora of issues.
Where to from here?
After almost six formal years in business, there are going to be some AMAZING changes coming from Holistan. This includes a shift in our offering, exciting new solutions and products, alongside a new address.
A shift in offering
Holistan will continue to shift our focus heavily toward our B2C offerings. Although we are still available to support big business, our ambition is making a big and bold impact with individuals, all underpinned by our expertise around psychometrics and psychology science.
New exciting solutions and products
Holistan is proud to announce that we are officially launching a more formal department of our business, dedicated to our training products we are immensely excited about!
The Holistan Academy will be launched in due course, offering quality learning materials dedicated to various audiences.
Our course around Practice Management was initially created for Health Professionals in the South African context. Our one-day workshop “Chasing the Dream: A Guide to Practice Management in the South African context” was announced earlier this year as the LAST ONE. Finally, we can reveal why! This one-day contact workshop has been recreated into a detailed 12-week online course, scaled for an international audience. Psychology professionals from all corners of the globe will be supported in opening and running their own practices.
For the individual Professional, we will be creating an online course to upskill every person wanting to become economically active – formally (through employment) as well as informally, or otherwise known as the gig economy (as a freelancer). This course will focus on translating existing skills, alongside building skills appropriate to Industry 4.0. Our ambition is to empower every individual to build a rewarding, long term career.
Beyond our current offering under the ‘Personal Branding’ umbrella, we will be broadening our solutions here too. This includes marketing consultation services, offering clients support around running campaigns to bolster their personal brands, as well as offering Industry 4.0 CVs – including personal websites and Video CVs.
Holistan would like to take this opportunity to thank every friend, colleague and client who has supported us thus far – we would not be in business if it were not for YOU! Although we continue to operate in Bedfordview for 2020, we will share with you our exciting NEW address in due course – so make sure you keep your eyes peeled on our formal communication in this regard.
